I believe that a hacker is anyone who refuses to be confined by systems they did not design. Applying this narrowly to the circumvention of computer systems misses the point; to hack is to self-determine.
This site is a space for me to talk about how I hack, in that broader sense.
What I do
I'm a sales engineer at Pentera.
- I support Pentera's sales reps in the field by proving the technical value of our solutions to prospects and customers as a strategic technical advisor.
- I develop internal tooling for our SE team.
- I work closely with our research division on projects related to my technical expertise.
Before I switched to sales, I was a security consultant (a pentester). My specialties are application and network security, and my research interests include distributed systems and machine learning.
For a more complete professional history, see here.
Who I am
I grew up in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. Taking apart anything that wasn't bolted down naturally progressed to a career in cybersecurity, a path familiar to many.
While my deep passion for cyber virtually monopolizes my time outside of work, I enjoy a few hobbies:
- Running, weightlifting, hiking, mountaineering, and anything fitness related.
- EDM and rave culture.
- Drum and bass, jungle, breakbeat, and various permutations of these are the soundtrack to my life, in many respects.
- Reading.
- Science fiction holds a special place in my heart. Frank Herbert's Dune is my favorite book.
- Cyberpunk fiction is also a favorite, for obvious reasons. Neuromancer and Snow Crash were formative.
- Writing poetry.
- Film.
- Many of my family were or are actors and creatives, including my grandfather. I was raised on a steady diet of classic film and TV shows.
- My favorite film is The Matrix, to the surprise of no one.
Where I live
I live in Boston and work there when I'm not traveling.
