I believe that a hacker is anyone who refuses to be confined by systems, digital or otherwise, that they did not design. To hack is to self-determine, and applying this mentality to computer systems alone misses the point.
This site is a space for me to talk about how I hack, in that broader sense.
What I do
I'm a sales engineer at Pentera, which is a company that sells automated penetration testing software. I work with our customers alongside our sales reps using my technical skillset and offensive security expertise.
Before I switched to sales, I was a security consultant (a pentester).
For a more complete professional history, see here.
Who I am
I'm American, and I grew up in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. From a young age, I had access to lots of commodity hardware through my dad's work, and taking apart any and all machines accessible to me naturally progressed to a career in cybersecurity, a path familiar to many.
While my deep passion for cyber virtually monopolizes my time outside of work, I enjoy a few hobbies:
- Running, weightlifting, hiking, mountaineering, and anything fitness related.
- EDM and rave culture.
- Drum and bass, jungle, breakbeat, and various permutations of these are the soundtrack to my life, in many respects.
- Reading.
- Science fiction holds a special place in my heart. Frank Herbert's Dune is my favorite book.
- Cyberpunk fiction is also a favorite. Neuromancer and Snow Crash were formative.
- I enjoy learning about history, international relations, and statecraft, especially where such topics intersect with cybersecurity.
- Writing.
- I enjoy writing free-verse poetry. This is a tradition in my family.
- Film.
- Many of my family were or are actors and creatives, including my grandfather. I was raised on a steady diet of classic film and TV shows.
- My favorite film is The Matrix.
Where I live
I live in Boston and work there when I'm not traveling.
